More Car Convenience

29th December 2008

In the past years, car manufacturers have focused more on engine efficiency and exterior and interior design, to give optimum service for their consumers. Today car manufacturers tend to focus more on safety and convenience of drivers and passengers without compromising optimum service. Most car innovations of today involve precautionary systems that would be able to lessen possibilities of various car accidents.

First on the list is the Pre-scan Technology of Mercedes F700 concept. This system scans the road condition and the type of terrain that the car would pass. After scanning, the system automatically adjusts suspensions for a comfortable drive. General Motors on the other hand starts with their V2V or Vehicle-to-Vehicle Technology. This new technology involves transfer of information from driver to driver, to give warnings if the brake is jammed or if there is an emergency. Certain improvements are still made to the system, like the universal language for drivers.

Third is developed by Saab which test the driver’s alcohol level, this new car innovation is called Alco Key. The system request the driver to breath into a hand-held analyzer that determines alcohol level, when the alcohol level excides the normal, the engine would not start. Finally Volvo developed two new systems for accident precaution. Sleep Detection and Collision Warning System, lessens the probability of crashes by radar technology that scans the road for probable objects that could cause collision. The driver is warned by audible signals. If the driver would not be able to hit the brakes on time, the system automatically stops the car.
These new innovations are made to ensure safety for drivers and pedestrians but also give great convenience for drivers. Though there are these kinds of safety systems, being alert and disciplined when driving is still the best way to avoid collisions and other road mishaps.
